If you have never heard of CBD oil and are encountering it here for the first time, we recommend “What is CBD oil? The benefits of CBD oil.”
Briefly, CBD is one of more than 100 cannabinoids in cannabis. It is nonpsychoactive, and studies have shown therapeutic properties including seizure reduction, pain and anxiety relief, wound healing and general health in people of different ages.
It benefits people with many different conditions because all mammals have an endocannabinoid system, described here as absorbing cannabinoids and distributing them throughout the nervous system.

The CBD market has become enormous in recent years while still being at the beginning of its potential, with hundreds of brands and manufacturers.
What criteria should you consider when buying CBD oil?
1. Organic hemp: A major industrial hemp problem is pesticide contamination. Always look for oil made from organic hemp. Despite recent improvements, inadequate policies and regulations led this article to recommend European rather than American oils. Exceptions exist, so review manufacturers' website reports before deciding.
2. CO2 extraction: Two main cannabinoid extraction methods use CO2 or butane. Some countries and states use butane for recreational cannabis concentrates, while its use in medical cannabis production is prohibited. Butane extraction may not be illegal everywhere, but we recommend checking for CO2 extraction before purchasing online.
3. Full spectrum: Full spectrum oil contains trace THC. Do not immediately worry: these trace levels will not appear on drug tests or cause psychoactive effects. Small amounts of THC make CBD oil more effective because the endocannabinoid system works best with multiple cannabinoids present. Before buying online, look for “full spectrum” on the website.
4. Decarboxylated: This technical issue matters when assessing oils. Decarboxylation gently heats extracted oil to convert CBDa and THCa into CBD and THC. Websites may not use the word “decarboxylated,” so laboratory tests matter. If all four compounds—CBDa, CBD, THCa and THC—are present, and CBD is substantially higher than CBDa and THC, the oil has been decarboxylated. CBD will greatly exceed THC, but there will also be a substantial difference between THC and THCa. This is how you can identify decarboxylated oil.
5. Pesticide/herbicide-free oil: Only laboratory tests on the company's website can establish this.
6. Solvent-free oil: Only laboratory tests on the company's website can establish this.
7. Laboratory tests: Clearly displayed tests provide the information needed to determine whether an oil meets these requirements.
With these criteria, you can filter out substandard products when choosing CBD companies and products.
Oils sold informally, through social media and on some open e-commerce platforms in Turkey probably fail some or all of these criteria and may harm overall health. Click to read our article on this issue!
