As the “CBD Haber” team, we have tried to provide reliable information since our launch. We have received many questions about CBD and do our best to help.

Here we answer those asked most often. If you have other questions, please write to us so we can add them.

Where can I buy CBD oil in Turkey?

Naturally, we begin with our most frequent question: where can CBD oil be bought in Turkey?

First, at publication, CBD oil was not yet legally sold in Turkey. Informal sellers existed, but the relevant ministry had not approved their oils' contents, and most were brought into the country illegally.

Note: We are in contact with brands wanting to enter Turkey and people seeking distributorships. Legally approved CBD oil sales may begin soon.

Are informally sold CBD oils safe?

Many oils are sold informally. We strongly advise against these products! European origin should not mislead you: according to research reported at publication, 70% of European CBD oils were fake or contained substantially less CBD than labeled. Attractive labels are no guarantee. Research the company thoroughly. Even if the seller has good intentions, the product may be mislabeled or fake.

Some patients tell us they previously used CBD oil without benefit. There are two reasons: first, fake oils; second, choosing an unsuitable oil. Both are explained below.

Fake or incorrectly labeled oils

You may encounter two kinds of fraud:

  1. Oils with entirely fake contents: Someone may sell hemp seed oil as CBD oil. They are very different. Read our article for details. We have heard of many informal sellers doing this in Turkey.
  2. Oils with incorrect contents: This is most common. You buy an apparently good oil, with a credible brand and attractive website, but are its ingredients genuine? Most often, the stated CBD concentration is wrong. Do not rely on European origin, and check that product reports are genuine.

Can I bring CBD oil from abroad?

Yes! With a prescription, you can bring CBD oil from abroad. You may contact a company to arrange shipping or travel and buy it yourself. Remember that products passing through customs require a prescription!

Which brand should I choose?

This is our second most frequent question. We have researched established international brands, but we do not direct people to a particular one.

Despite our research, we do not want to mislead consumers or take responsibility for potential supply problems. If companies enter Turkey legally, we will of course explain which brands we recommend based on our research.

Is every CBD oil good for every condition?

No! Choose an oil suited to you. Plant quality and growing conditions matter alongside ingredients. There are two criteria:

  1. The company's recommendation: The company can explain which conditions its oil may help.
  2. The oil type: Is it full spectrum, broad spectrum or isolate? This distinction matters. Be sure to read our detailed article.

Does “THC Free” matter?

At publication, the THC limit discussed was 0.3% in America and 0.2% in Europe. THC consumed at these levels would not produce psychoactive effects. Some companies offer oils labeled “THC Free,” but our research suggests there are benefits to legally permitted THC levels.

Many studies recommend consuming CBD with THC for its full effect. Other hemp components also interact and enhance one another. This entourage effect matters for many conditions.

Can we produce CBD oil in Turkey?

Many people in Turkey are enthusiastic about production, and we are in contact with several. But production was prohibited under the laws at publication. The 2016 hemp law allowed only fiber and seed production. Producing CBD oil therefore appeared unlikely without regulatory change.

The biggest production difficulty was domestic seed use. Producers had to use domestic seed; imported seed was not permitted. High-quality CBD oil, however, requires genetics with a high CBD concentration. To our knowledge, Turkey had no high-CBD seed variety, and we had not heard of work on this.

Closing thoughts

If you have questions or experiences with CBD oil, please share them so we can pass the information to others in need.

We have declined many advertising requests from companies and individuals because we fear undermining readers' trust. We will not advertise informal CBD sellers or companies without an official Turkish presence.

If a company officially enters Turkey and earns our trust, we may recommend it. We are discussing this with several companies and will announce their entry when completed.
