Ask any parent and they will tell you having children affects nighttime sleep.

According to the Harvard Health blog, one in five starts the day after six hours or less. This means spending more energy on already demanding work.

Numerous national studies like this one suggest people must take action themselves. Even conventional medical experts acknowledge there may be little to lose by trying CBD for short-term sleep difficulties.

A Consumer Reports survey found some success in around 10% of people turning to CBD for sleep-related concerns.

Kristy S., an Oklahoma mother of two young children, recently began CBD oil to improve sleep and manage symptoms of an inflammatory disorder.

After stopping breastfeeding her youngest child, she tried a product containing both CBD and CBG. She chose a locally produced, triple-tested product recommended by mothers in an online parenting support group.

“I tried it because I heard CBD oil had anti-inflammatory properties and helped anxiety, depression, pain and sleep. My joints hurt less. I am less angry and feel I shout at my children less often. A mother I know said CBD made her thirsty, and drinking more water helped her lose 18 kilograms,” she said.

Research indicates that weight loss and reduced anxiety and pain improve restful sleep. Using CBD for diet support, anxiety or pain might therefore also benefit sleep.

Reducing stress may make sleep easier

CBD may also offer exhausted parents a way to relax.

Mother of two Celia Behar, founder of CBD brand Mellow Out Mama, described how it helped her become a calmer, better mother.

“In my experience, CBD helps rest and relaxation,” she said.

“I feel more focused with CBD, and my muscles relax. I accomplish more without stress, leaving more time to unwind. I even add CBD to morning coffee.”

For sleep, Celia said CBD was more reliable than conventional nonprescription options: “Some products worked faster, better and longer than my sleeping pills and brought my sleep into order. I hear many people use CBD for regular sleep.”

A mother who wished to remain anonymous even reported improved sciatica: “I use it when I wake up and just before bed, and it has made a big difference.”
