Colorado-based High Grade Hemp Seed (HGH) received Association of Official Seed Certifying Agencies (AOSCA) approval for its high-CBG hemp variety, Matterhorn.
The rise of CBG
CBG is known as the “mother cannabinoid” because it precedes all the other cannabinoids. While the industry has long focused on THC and CBD, researchers and growers such as HGH are now working intensively to understand CBG and develop rich varieties.
Although research is very new, some studies have suggested effects in glaucoma, inflammatory bowel disease and Huntington's disease, and possible inhibition of tumor growth. CBG has also demonstrated bacteria-killing effects and increased bone development. It can additionally counter paranoia caused by excessive THC.

“Rolls-Royce”
CBG is called the “Rolls-Royce of cannabinoids” because its production is expensive.
Traditional plants contain relatively little CBG, and isolating even small amounts costs thousands of dollars, making it expensive for consumers. As benefits are discovered and production costs become reasonable, however, CBG is expected to become the cannabis world's next star after CBD.
