If you use CBD products or are interested in them, you may have asked yourself this question. We will try to answer what you need to know about CBD and driving.
How do CBD side effects relate to driving?
Unlike other substances, CBD has a very short list of side effects, and the World Health Organization has declared it safe for individual use. Common effects such as dry mouth and appetite changes do not relate to driving safety. However, some people report dizziness and drowsiness after taking CBD.
CBD does not produce psychoactive effects like THC, but its effects vary between people. Some react more strongly to active cannabis components or have lower tolerance. They may therefore experience brief dizziness or drowsiness. If your tolerance to cannabinoids is low, driving may not be safe.

Detecting cannabinoids in blood
Urine and blood tests are the most common ways to detect illegal substances in the body. Urine tests can detect many cannabinoids, while blood tests detect specific ones. First, a few points:
- THC can be detected in blood for up to 24 hours after ingestion.
- If THC-containing CBD oil is used frequently, THC can be detected for up to three days.
- If THC-containing CBD oil is used regularly, THC can be detected for up to one week.
Regular use of full spectrum CBD products always carries a risk of a positive drug test. Some tests are sensitive to all cannabinoids, so even THC-free CBD products may produce a positive result.
How much CBD can I take before driving?
Suppose you use a certified full spectrum CBD oil containing 0.2% THC or less. Hypothetically, you would have to consume an entire bottle to be penalized for using an illegal cannabis substance. If your daily dose is an average of 3–5 drops, you are far from facing a criminal penalty.
CBD and driving in different countries
If you take CBD and drive abroad, you should have current knowledge of that country's or state's traffic laws. In theory, there is no driving law specifically for CBD. However, testing methods in many countries can cause problems for CBD users. To avoid an undeserved penalty, pay attention to product quality and understand traffic laws.
We wish you good health.
