According to a report published by Leafreport, most CBD teas and coffees contain less CBD than their labels state. Unfortunately, more than half the 29 products examined did not contain the declared amount.
The company reported discrepancies between labeled and actual CBD levels in 11 of 14 tea products tested, warning this could be a major industry problem.
Testing also showed that brands with multiple products could score well for one while another had unacceptably low levels. Researchers warn such inconsistency may undermine consumer trust.
Leafreport product manager Lital Shafir said the issue remains a problem: “You can find CBD in almost anything, including tea and coffee, but do these products contain as much as advertised and accurately deliver what consumers are promised?” She added: “It is not good that more than 50% contain the wrong amount of CBD.”
The report suggests CBD teas and coffees are harder to formulate than CBD oils because they contain relatively small quantities.
